If You Want to Know What's Been Going On... 5.21.18
It's been FOREVER since I posted on the blog, so I thought I'd drop by and give you guys a quick update! We've been super busy lately.
We're so close to being done recording! We have made a lot of progress over the past several weeks. We're headed into the studio for two days next week to finish all of the tracking and get the songs ready to go to mix (!!!!!). It's been incredible hearing more of the songs coming together and hearing them as a cohesive unit. The plan is to send the songs to mix in June and have the first single ready to go in September, with the full record coming out in October. However, if anything goes awry or takes longer than we expect (which is always a possibility), the single will be out in January and the record will be out in February! Thank you guys for your continued support throughout the whole recording process - I can't wait for everyone to hear what we've been working so hard on! However, don't forget that you can sign up for my email list, and I'll send you a free download of the first single right now as well as continued updates on live shows and other things of the sort (:
We've been crazy busy with live shows, too! I have a wonderful band that's been playing with me, and we've gotten to play several great shows over the past few months. It's been so much fun playing live with a band. We've gotten to bring studio tracks to life on stage as well as build arrangements and write new parts for songs that I haven't yet recorded. As a band, we've played the Magic City Art Connection, and, more recently, Do Dah Day; I've also played some acoustic shows, including the Mt. Laurel Spring Festival and the Heights Hangout. All of the recent shows have been a ton of fun - everyone has been so kind and gracious to us, and we're very appreciative! I LOVE playing live, and I'm very thankful to every promoter who books us, every soundperson who helps us sound our best, and everyone who comes out to the shows, stops to listen to us, and/or comes and talks to me after we play - it really does mean the world to me. I'm currently working on booking for the summer and fall, and I hope to have some details to you soon! (:
As you might know, I've also been having some issues with my vocal cords for a month or two. We've tried tons of things to calm the inflammation and swelling, but nothing is making that big of a difference. It's very scary to know that what you depend on for what you do is so fragile but I'm learning that it's just something that I'll have to deal with and keep a watch on. We are actually headed to Vanderbilt next month to get it seen about. We're hoping for some answers as well as some strategies to control the problem going forward. Thank y'all for being so sweet about this and for all of the encouragement you've given over social media - it's all very much appreciated!!
I think that's about all I have to tell you for right now. If you'd like to know more as things happen, please sign up for the email list. I'd love to share it all with you! Thanks for all your support. It means more than I can say!
