Anna Grace Beatty is an independent singer-songwriter from Birmingham, Alabama. Now based in Nashville, she began releasing music in 2018. Her latest EP, “Starting Over,” is available everywhere now.

Often compared to artists ranging from Emmylou Harris to Alanis Morissette, Beatty’s catalog showcases a blend of styles that is hard to define by genre. “I grew up around a lot of country and Christian music,” she says, “but I’ve been fortunate to spend most of my teenage years in the studio and playing shows with artists of all different genres, which has helped me broaden my influences. Now, when people ask me what kind of music I make, I don’t know how to answer the question!” Despite these diverse influences, her pop songwriting sensibilities can be heard throughout all of her music, which is something she is developing further in her new music with producer and fellow Birmingham native Clint Wells.

Honest and autobiographical lyrics have always been the driving force behind Beatty’s music. Her new record is no exception, as it covers several personal changes she has been through in the last couple of years. “I feel like everyone says this, but I honestly don’t know any other way to process what happens in my life other than writing music. As hard as this path is, I feel really lucky to have this way of documenting and working through what I’ve been through recently and this weird life stage I’m in, between being a kid and an adult,” she says.

Since the release of her first EP in 2018, Beatty has spent time on the road playing shows across the Southeast. She has opened for established artists such as Larkin Poe, Matthew Mayfield, and Noah Guthrie, as well as shared the stage with local artists in their home cities throughout the region. She says, “I’ve really enjoyed getting to play the shows I have in the last few years. I’ve learned so much from the people I’ve played alongside, and I’m grateful for the opportunity it’s given me to develop as an artist and performer. Whether there are three or three hundred people at a show, I’m genuinely just glad to share my music with anyone who will listen.”
